BLOG CONTEST

A forest gnome has visited the library and left us with a wonderful new surprise. We have a new friend to welcome at the Henry Ford Centennial Library Children's Forest. He is very shy about being here. He is spending a lot of time reading in the treehouse and that seems to make him happy, but the librarians think he would be most happy if he had a name.

CAN YOU HELP US NAME OUR NEWEST FRIEND?
To enter in the contest:
1. Ask your Mom or Dad if it is okay.
(Safety first!)
2. Click on the "Comment" button below. Type in your name suggestion in the Comment box. Also, please include your Dearborn Public Library card number in the post.
(Tell your parents not to worry. We keep all comments private and will not publish any personal information. )
3. Entries must be posted by the first day of Summer Reading - June 22nd, 12:01 am.
(If you are staying up past bedtime to enter this drawing, why in the world did you wait until the last minute anyway?! Go to bed!!)
4. We will contact you using your library card contact information if you are the winner.
(The winner will be give an prize but we don't know what it is yet, so please don't ask!)
5. Check back often! After moose has chosen a name, all name suggestions will be listed in a following post.
(We expect he will let us know his favorite name with a clomp! clomp! of his hooves on the treehouse floor and a wiggle! twitch! of his beautiful brown antlers. Moose are expressive like that.)
Good Luck Everyone and thanks for reading our blog!

"Happy Birthday" 2x

Everyone is singing "Happy Birthday" twice to themselves over the sink these days. We know you are concerned about swine flu and are washing your hands, a good habit for the healthiest of days. Whether or not the media hype is worth it, healthy habits are important for all of us. Just remember, keep your hands away from the "t zone" to avoid germs. That is, don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth and read a few books about hygiene from the library.

Here are some non-fiction numbers to look for when you come to the library.

Health and hygiene --613
Influenza -- 616.203
Soapmaking -- 668.12

Stay healthy!
