Bookmark Contest - Don't Miss Your Chance!

Dearborn Public Library's Annual Bookmark Contest deadline is coming, so don't miss out!  Your last chance to design and submit a reading related bookmark is Friday, March 23, 2012.  Dearborn residents or students attending a Dearborn school and in grades 1-5 can participate.

Bookmarks must be done in BLACK INK and be 8.5” x 2”. Entrant’s name, grade and school must be written on the back in pencil. One entry per child. Entries may be dropped off at any Dearborn Public Library. For more details, pick up a special Bookmark Contest Flyer.

Get your creative gears turning and turn in your design by 5:30pm on Friday, March 23rd!

Get Out the Vote!

Now is the time for all good kids to come to the aid of their library.


Election 2011 started November 1st. Come scope out the candidate's campaign posters in the Children's Department at Henry Ford Centennial Library November 1st through 6th. Keep your eyes peeled, you never know where you'll see a poster. You might even find a campaign sticker or two. Come back and vote November 7th-10th. Your voices must be heard! Exercise your right to vote in 2011!

Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party!

Hey Kids! Muffin and Goldie can't believe it, but Summer Reading is already over. While you were busy reading lots of good books over the Summer, they were vacationing in Bora Bora. Now they're back and ready to party with you! After all your hard work, you deserve it.

Join us tomorrow, August 18th, 6:00pm at Henry Ford Centennial Library for the annual Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party. We'll be playing games, enjoying refreshments, and painting faces. Muffin and Goldie are so excited to see all of you. Join us at the fountain and celebrate a job well done!

Don’t Miss!

Join us this week at Henry Ford Centennial Library for two no-regristration events.  Drop in and have fun with the family!

Wednesday, June 29.  10:30am.  Storytime.  Ages 2-6. 

Weather permitting we’ll meet by the fountain for storytime.  Join us for stories and rhymes celebrating '”One World, Many Stories.  All Family members are welcome, but storytime is geared for children 2-6 years old.  In the event of rain, storytime will be held indoors.

Wednesday, June 29.  11:00am – 7:00pm.  Native American Stick Game Craft.  All Ages.

We’ll be creating a fun Native American game this week.  Younger children will need adult assistance.  One craft per child. 

Goodbye...and Hello

Hi!

If you've visited Henry Ford Centennial Library lately, you might have noticed some new faces at the Reading House. After many years, many visits and many fun hours of hanging with the kids, Blackberry and Honey Bear needed to retire. They want you to know that they had lots of fun and hope you won't miss them too terribly. They are also very sorry they couldn't have a retirement party or anything. Both would have loved the hugs and kisses.

Taking up residence in the house and waiting for fun and stories with you are Muffin Moose and Goldie Bear. Muffin and Goldie heard about our vacancy and were thrilled at the chance to come here. They were even able to get some job training from Blackberry before he left.

We're back and blogging

After a very long break...I'll bet you didn't know that bears could sleep so long!...we've decided to write again. Summer is here. Okay, not according to the calendar, but Mother Nature isn't one to follow the calendar. It's hot! School's out! And that means? Come on, you know! Summer Reading Program! We're gearing up for another fun summer filled with books, crafts, activities and BUGS! That's right, BUGS! The theme for this summer's program is "Catch the Reading Bug!" So get ready for all things buggy.

Oh and in case you didn't know, our home at Henry Ford Centennial Library got a re-do this year. Check it out! We guess they thought we missed the forest. It was pretty sweet of the Library Foundation to think of us bears. Stop on by for a visit.
