And the Winner Is...

Early this morning, the 2012 Caldecott Medal was awarded to A Ball For Daisy by Chris Raschka!  Congratualtions, Mr. Raschka!



The Caldecott Honors went to Blackout by John Rocco, Grandpa Green by Lane Smith, and Me... Jane  by Patrick McDonnell.  Congratulations to all the honorees!

Storytimes!

There are still spaces available for storytimes at Henry Ford Centennial Library.  Register in person or call (313) 943-2345.

MOTHER GOOSE STORYTIME -- HFCL Children's
Fridays, January 13, 20 & 27, 10:30am OR 1:00pm
Ages 6-24 months.
Registration begins: Thursday, December 29th

Babies and toddlers are invited to their first literature experiences along with songs, fingerplays, and movement. One caregiver per child is recommended. Space is limited. Please advise which session you wish to attend. Registration required.


TOT TIME -- HFCL Children's
Thursdays, Jan. 12, 19, 26, Feb. 9, 16 & 23, 10:30am OR 11:30am
Ages 2-3 years.
Registration begins: Thursday, December 29th

Children with a caregiver are invited for stories, songs and fun. Please choose only one session. Space is limited. Registration required.

Happy New Year!

Winter break isn’t over quite yet, though.  Join us for Winterfest to beat the boredom.  This week, stop by the Henry Ford Centennial Library Tuesday through Friday between 2-4pm for a different children’s activity every day.

Tuesday, January 3 – Snowman Collage.  Build a snowman without bundling into your snowsuit. No registration, but space may be limited.

Wednesday, January 4 – PreK & up Yoga.  Join Beth Vessels of Sweet Pea Yoga for some stretchy holiday fun! No registration, but space is limited.

Thursday, January 5 – Penguin Craft.  No penguin suit needed for this penguin-themed craft. No registration, but space may be limited.

Friday, January 6 – Face Painting & Temporary Tattoos.  All ages can get creative and use our face painting supplies and temporary tattoos. Even better, bring a friend and paint each other's face. No registration, but space may be limited.
