October

October is here, and we all know what that means: cooler weather, changing leaves, pumpkins, jack o'lanterns, and Halloween! Or does it?  With all this warm weather, it still feels like summer!  While we're waiting for that beautiful fall weather, here are some other ways to celebrate October.

Did you know October is:

Bat Appreciation Month?

Caramel Month?

Cookie Month?

Dinosaur Month?

International Drum Month?

National Pizza Month?

Pretzel Month?

Which one do you feel like celebrating?  Muffin and Goldie are partial to Cookies and Pizza!

Get Caught Listening!

June is Audiobook Month and you’re in luck.  The library has loads of audiobooks just right for you.  What’s an audiobook, you ask?  It’s a book you can listen to while you’re in the car, doing chores, taking a walk, lounging on the beach, or getting ready for bed.  They are also great when you’re looking for that Diary of a Wimpy Kid book that’s been checked out for months.  If you can’t read it with your eyes, read it with your ears!

Did you know we had these titles on audiobook?

And coming soon:

We also have downloadable audiobooks for your mp3 player.  Visit the Dearborn Public Library and get caught listening this summer!

Children's Book Week - Book Trailer #1

This is Children's Book Week (more on that later), and what better way to celebrate than pass on trailers about children's books. Book trailers, just like movie trailers, are video commercials. There a lot of fun ones out there, more that we will have time this week to feature. If you want to find more, try searching for 'book trailers for children' on YouTube or visit specific publishers' sites, like Scholastic or Simon and Schuster or HarperCollins.

Today we are featuring Cat Secrets by Jef Czekaj. If you like Mo Willem's Pigeon, you'll like Jef's Cat.

Check out the book trailer, then check out the book. Just don't let Cat Secrets out of the bag!
